MORNING PRAYER
One of the greatest traditions in the history of the Church is
the special prayer called the Liturgy of the Hours or The Divine
Office. This prayer was initially recited by priests and religious.
However, it is also the prayer of the people and has deep meaning for all
because the Psalms contained in the Liturgy of the Hours were also prayed
by Christ.
In order to add a growing form of prayer to our parish
community, we begin reciting this in common each day at 7:45 A.M.
before the 8:00 A.M. Mass, Monday-Saturday. All are invited to
pray this ancient and inspiring prayer of the Church.

ASSUMPTION PARISH LAUNCHES NEW ADVERTISING
CAMPAIGN
July 2002 - The Brooklyn Heights
Parish of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary has launched a new advertising
campaign designed to increase awareness and visibility of the Church throughout
brownstone Brooklyn.
The campaign, which
focuses on the community and family spirit for which Assumption has long been
known, will run throughout the year in the Brooklyn Heights Press, the
Brooklyn Daily Eagle, The Phoenix, the Brooklyn Eagle and the
Brooklyn Journal.
“Through these publications, we will reach
90,000 readers in the neighborhoods of Brooklyn
Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll
Gardens, Boerum Hill, Park Slope and DUMBO,” says Father Michael Carrano,
pastor of Assumption Parish. “We invite all people, no matter what neighborhood
they live in, to worship with us, and we believe that they will find our parish
warm and welcoming.”
The theme “Make our
family part of your family” highlights the 160 years that Assumption has been
part of Brooklyn Heights and invites people of all ages to become part of the community of
Assumption Parish. It debuted in June, in coordination with the Parish’s 160th
Anniversary celebration.
The campaign was designed
and developed pro bono by Robert Martin, Inc., a creative marketing and
advertising firm based in Hauppauge, New York.
