Thursday, March 7, the Dakota History Tour at the Shakopee Mdewakanton
Community Center attracted 26 ULLRs. Two native guides, Cherish and
Michael led us through a fascinating museum exhibit, “Hocokata Ti,
Dwellers of Spirit Lake.” We learned an overview of the history of the
Dakota people, which many of us had never been taught. The museum has
layers of information, so for those with the time and inclination, a
deep dive will yield a deeper understanding. If you haven’t had a
chance to visit this museum, it is a treasure waiting for you. Kathy Lucas |
