A Perfect Day for a Hike
The weather was perfect: sun with temps about 70⁰. Four ULLRs
(Nancy S., Barb K., Jan S., Linda H.) walked the trails and hills at
Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park near Hastings on Monday, September
18. Hike leader Nancy S. said there would be a few moderate
hills, but hiking poles made those hills less bothersome. The
group was surrounded by and under the canopy of trees nearly all of the
3.5 miles of the hike.
There wasn’t much color yet in the leaves on trees, but sumac and
flowering plants provided some lovely red, yellow, white, purple, and
blue colors for us. Even the algae on the lake waters was a
bright lime green color under the brilliant blue skies.
After the hike, the group drove to Hastings and enjoyed lunch in the Hasting Public House Restaurant at the Hastings Golf Club.
