Octoberfest in New Ulm
It
was a perfect day for nine ULLRS to hike the three-mile trail in
Flandrau State Park in New Ulm. Surprisingly we found the trail
without getting lost. First picture opportunity was in the front
of the natural, sand swimming pool, of course, closed for the
season. I don’t think we had any lifeguards in the group!
The trail had a few ups and downs with the vibrant fall foliage peeking
through. A pleasant surprise along the trail was a herd of goats
dutifully eating the overgrown buckthorn in the meadow.
Our
reward after the hike was to visit the Octoberfest celebration going on
in town. With the lovely weather, it was not surprising to see a
huge crowd, many dressed in German garb. A cold beverage from the
Schell’s booth and a brat with German potato salad was just
perfect! DANKE to all that joined in for the fun!
