Lake Vadnais Hike
April
21 was the first Ullr Spring hike, a sunny somewhat chilly day, but so
much better than the cold and rainy days of recent weeks. Eleven
hikers came to check out Lake Vadnais, a lake with no homes around it
or any boating as it provides the water supply for St. Paul. We
were hoping to see the swans that Jerry and I saw in March, but instead
spotted a loon, flock of common merganser (fish eating) ducks, and a
muskrat. Following the hike we had lunch at nearby Mansetti’s for
a nice $10 buffet selection of salad, pasta, vegetables and pizzas.
