Nine energetic Ullrs biked the Douglas State Trail on Saturday, August 3.  The Trail occupies the abandoned Chicago Great Western Railway corridor between Pine Island and Rochester.  It passes through “a scenic mix of forest, rolling fields, and pastures”.  Four of the nine Ullrs biked the full 25-mile roundtrip, with 5 going a slightly shorter distance.  The Douglas Trail is named for Harrison Douglass, the original owner of the town, who settled there in 1855 as the first blacksmith in the county.  Lunch was enjoyed afterwards at the Let’s Go Tacos restaurant in downtown Pine Island.
