| ULLRS TOUR RESTORED MN STATE CAPITOL On Saturday, October 7, twenty-nine ULLRs came to tour the beautifully restored Minnesota State Capitol. The tour began in the Supreme Court where our group learned about the restoration that began years ago and during which Minnesota government had to be conducted in alternate locations. Artists and crafts people cleaned, repaired, and restored the exterior and interior of the building that re-opened this summer. Upon entering the building, ULLRs gasped at the beauty and immediately started taking photos to show family and friends. They smiled and recollected past visits – some of which were more than 50 years ago! Our tour time to learn about and admire the restoration was limited, but we saw the Supreme Court, House and Senate Chambers, and the Governor’s briefing/reception room. Our tour guide also told stories about how government actually works (or doesn’t work). Most ULLRs indicated they might come back to spend even more time in our State House. Following the Capitol tour, ULLRs gathered at Fern’s Bar & Grill for more conversation and lunch. |
