June
3rd under cloudy skies, 64 ULLRs arrived at Good Ol' Days Resort in
Nisswa with bright spirits ready to bike, golf, eat and
socialize. We almost took over the resort except for one cottage
that had previously been reserved.
The weather was threatening
as we were preparing for the welcome party on Wednesday night, but the
resort offered us the lodge dining rooms and porch to set up our drinks
and food. They even set up extra serving tables to accommodate
us. The hospitality was greatly appreciated. Thursday
evening the sun arrived just in time to set dinner up outside.
The menu included pulled chicken sandwiches, cole slaw, calico beans
and trays and trays of beautiful delicious appetizers brought by our
fellow members.
Although Wednesday and Thursday were cloudy,
Friday was bright and sunny. A large group went to bike the
Chippewa Forest before heading home and enjoyed the rolling hills.
A
special thank you to all who came and for bringing all the delicious
gourmet dishes to share. Also, thank you for being so
understanding to have to resend your payments after the first payments
got misplaced by the post office.
Everyone made it home safely
and we still haven't heard if Ray brought his pet duck home with him in
his back seat. Fun was had by all and many requested that next
year's trip be extended by a day.
