GRANITE PEAK TRIP ADVENTURES

Twenty-one ULLRs had a fabulous trip to Granite Peak in Wausau, WI on February 3-5.

We welcomed Jill Steeves and Rose Grengs as new members of our Club, and they were both outstanding additions to our trip.

Several ULLRs arrived early on Tuesday to downhill ski, snowshoe, and cross-country ski.  The conditions were great, and everyone did the same on Wednesday.  The warmth and jets of the hotel hot tub felt good after our exercise on the trails and slopes.

Tuesday evening we had the usual pizza party along with salad, chips and salsa, and brownies while we were socializing and playing Farkel.

There was a terrific variety of food for the continental breakfasts in the party room at Stoney Creek Inn.  The Great Dane Restaurant in downtown Wausau provided us all delicious dinners on Wednesday evening, after which some of us played “Spite & Malice” (card game) and more dice games.

Thursday it was a little nippy – about 18 below wind chill.  Several hearty souls did downhill ski and cross-country ski, and many went to the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum where we enjoyed 50 of the greatest photographs from National Geographic, Whistler etchings, and the Museum’s collection of bird art.

We had a wonderful three days of camaraderie – there is nothing like being with great ULLRs!
