LAST FALL HIKE Early
weather reports predicted Saturday, November 8, would be a cold and
very windy day. Six ULLRs and a guest decided to come to Lebanon
Hills anyway for the last fall hike of the season. It was
definitely chilly and windy in the parking lot as we gathered for the
hike, but once we got down to the trails through the trees, most felt
they had worn too many layers. We were delighted to
have Rose G. as a guest on the hike. Rose is acquainted with ULLR
Joella W. who suggested to Rose that she might enjoy an ULLR
hike. We hope Rose will become an ULLR member. Lebanon
Hills has many miles of hiking trails. On those trails, we hiked
up/down hills, climbed over downed trees, occasionally tripped over
leaf-covered rocks and tree roots, crossed a rickety wood bridge,
discovered too late that we had been on a closed trail, bush whacked
our way a short distance to get from one trail to another, and had lots
of fun all the way! Rose’s phone app said we hiked
about 4.3 miles. Carole M.’s Fitbit reported we had hiked 11,837
steps and that nearly all of those steps were at an intense effort.
Following our 1.5 hours on the trails, we
went to Ansari’s Mediterranean Grill for lunch where we all enjoyed the
Mediterranean and Greek menu items. It was hard to choose from
all the tempting dishes. Soon we will begin our
ULLR outdoor winter activities. We all agreed Lebanon Hills was a
great place to close our fall hiking season, and we were already
talking about where to hike next spring and fall. |
