63rd Annual Spring Banquet ULLRS PLUNGE INTO SPRING by Karen Clarke
Seventy-eight
ULLRs and guests gathered for our 63rd Annual Spring Banquet at the
beautiful Minnesota Valley Country Club on Saturday, April 27.
Doors were open to the outside so we could celebrate the arrival of
spring and even listen to an occasional bird chirping.
Joyce
Crozier and Bill Kansas entertained us with their romantic music as we
mulled around greeting our friends and sharing stories about spring
finally arriving. Tables were set with ivory table cloths and
peach napkins formed into a flower in each cup. Sharon Marini
ordered arrangements from The Flower Box for the center pieces which
were fresh-cut flowers colored with spring. Programs were
designed with the freshness of a summer rain and rainbow. The
lucky person with a “rainbow princess” on the back of the program was
the winner of the floral arrangement at each table
Diane
Erlandson helped us out with her work on the name tags and place cards
with special color coding for the three entrees and two special vegan
meals served to our ULLRs.
Our past president, John Vogt, was
the M.C. for the program. He introduced the Interim President of
the Foundation, Jerry Weiskopf. Brian Johnson introduced the
racing team all of whom qualified for Nationals. Nancy Sand
thanked the 2012-13 Board for their service and introduced the new
2013-2014 Board; they being, Cheryl Rogers, President; Mary Ellen
Gabel, Exec VP; Jim Maiser, Treasurer; Pam Anderson, Ski Programs VP;
Carol Bush, Membership VP; Mary Ellen Goriesky, Summer Programs VP;
Marcia Switenki, Secretary; and Nancy Sand, Past
President/Advisor. Patty Fitzgerald presented the Western Ski
Trip to Steamboat, Colorado. Ole awards were given to: Barb
Kolbe, Joyce Crozier & Bill Kansas, Karen Clarke, Sally Chevalier,
and Nancy Sand. Patty Fitzgerald introduced the ULLR of the Year
Award to, can you imagine, John Stiefel. A much deserved tribute
to an ULLR who has served us very well.
Jan Cady served as our
photographer capturing the evening. Dancing started at 8:30 to
the music of “The American Flyer” band. Once again they tickled
our toes and we were out there hopping and swinging around until 11:30.
As
always, when the evening ends, we are happy we have our family of
friends to enjoy and celebrate our accomplishments with. Thanks
to all who make our club a success.
