ULLR Elves Help at Toys for Tots Warehouse
Thirteen
ULLR elves helped sort and box toys at the Toys for Tots warehouse on
Monday, December 17. Toys are picked up from a gigantic pile,
sorted into bins by age and gender, and packed into boxes that the
Marines distribute to non-profit organizations. Families then get
toys and stocking-stuffers from the non-profits.
If
you ever wonder what toys to select as gifts for any children, this is
the place to come. The donated toys range from a simple deck of
cards as a stocking-stuffer to sleds and electronic games. It is
fun to see the variety and the reactions of warehouse volunteers who
often see something that reminds them of a toy they themselves had as a
child.
Helping
at the warehouse is definitely an aerobic exercise experience that
causes participants to desperately want refreshments after work.
The ULLR elves did just that at nearby Pizza Luce where special
beers, pizzas, and sandwiches were enjoyed by the group.
Earlier
ULLRs donated 15 bags of toys and $375 at the November General Meeting
and at the Holiday Ball. That generosity helped provide Christmas
toys for children who otherwise might not have gotten any.
