15 hikers met at Richard T Anderson Conservation area on Saturday, October
3rd. The 125 acre park is tucked into a forested area on Flying Cloud Drive and
offers 4 miles of trails and wanders through 5 plant communities.
The
temperature was only in the low 40's, but as soon as we climbed the big hill to
the top of the ridge, we warmed up and enjoyed the sweeping views of the
Minnesota River valley below us. We wound through the woods, up hill and down
again, across the wooden bridge and up again we went.
Sally C. got slightly
lost on the way to the park, but finally found us and was happy she didn't go
home. John E. volunteered to take her back through the trail that she missed.
After the hike we enjoyed burgers and beer at the Lions Tap.
