On one of those OMG, gorgeous autumn days, 11 hikers met at Long Meadow Lake to follow the Hogback Ridge Trail that led between bass ponds. With the days becoming shorter and cold weather right around the corner, the group extended their hike to enjoy the outing as much as possible by following Nancy S on an unmarked trail that led across a stream filled with watercress.
Explore was the theme of the day and that we did. At the bottom of a hill was a bridge made from slippery logs that wobbled and almost everyone made it across with dry feet (I won’t say who stayed back or who got a wet foot). Not too many days left like this one.
Afterwards the group met at Chevy’s for Mexican food. It was great to sit outside and eat lunch in shorts and summer clothes on September 29.
