Snowshoers, Sat Feb 25th

FOUR ULLRs GOT BUSTED!!!... by the snowshoe police Saturday at Giants Ridge: Sunny Z, Kay S, Mary Ellen G2 and Gloria D.  They didn’t know, nor did I, that they needed a ticket to snowshoe.  He caught them empty handed, on his snowmobile, but was nice enough to go back and purchase tickets for them, so they could continue. 

We also had four people who purchased Cross Country tickets and three Alpine skiers who did both, with a total of 28 ULLRs on the trip playing in the snow.  The weather and snow conditions were perfect!  On Saturday we had a mild, beautiful sunny day.  On Sunday the wind had picked up and visibility wasn’t the best, but we had gorgeous big, thick, flakes falling and a couple inches of fluffy snow to sail through.

Our delicious Italian meatball dinner Saturday night also included chicken and brownies, which we didn’t expect.  Lee E graciously consented to entertain us afterwards with his guitar and provided songbooks for us to use to sing-along with him.  Jerry S invited his friend Ken, and his wife Liz, who live up there to join us, as he also plays guitar and after we all sang with them, they had a jam session, taking turns entertaining us.  What fun!

Since the snow wasn’t even thinking about stopping on Sunday, we decided to leave a couple of hours early.  The bus driver at first gave us a little thrill coming down a hill that didn’t have any sand on our side of the road to help him stop, but he did a great job getting us home, as we saw several cars in the ditch.  Of course, we arrived in the Twin Cities with no snow, but we weren’t complaining, as we didn’t have to clean off our cars.  A great time with good friends!
