Whew - We made it to the top of
Challenge Hill!
Trail Closed? That didn't stop us!
George H (Hike organizer) and
Bill L (Hike leader)
A Pacific Jet Stream delivered temperatures in the high 20's as nine ULLRs left the French Park Visitor Center for some XC ski trail hiking. Due to lack of snow, all the ski trails were available for hiking, and participating ULLRs did all of them. Barely out of the front door of the Visitor Center, Bill L took over as trail leader; event chair George H opted to hang back, in the event any latecomer showed.
The group did all 6 trails, a total of about 5.9 miles in a little less than 2 hours. Did the group turn back when they encountered a 'trail closed' sign? Of course not; this just triggered an enormous adrenaline rush that let the muscles of these 8 ULLRs, perform at such increased and improved strength, that reaching the top of CHALLENGE HILL, the most difficult trail in the Park seemed like, well, a 'walk in the park'. GOOD GOING ULLRS!
Most of the group met at a nearby Chili's for a little food and drink later. To the 8 ULLRs participating, and our photographer Nancy S, event chair George says 'Thank you'.
