Bitter cold and sub-zero wind chills didn't stop twelve ULLRs from traveling north on Thursday, January 20, for a day of skiing and snow shoeing.
Nancy S, Pat N, Barb K, Karen H, Don C, Jim S, David L, Jerry S, Jerry W, and Lorri C loved the sun and views of Duluth Harbor, but had to brave the cold skiing at Spirit Mountain while Sally C and Mary Ellen G enjoyed the beauty of Jay Cooke State Park while snowshoeing. All met later in the day for happy hour at the Black Bear Casino. We compared stories about how we layered clothing to cope with the cold and yet had a wonderful day. This was followed by dinner at the seafood buffet. The crab legs were a big hit!
Friday dawned with even colder temperatures and higher winds, so most simply packed up and returned home with thoughts of scheduling this trip for a warmer time of the winter next year! |
