On Tuesday, December 7, thirteen ULLRs spent the afternoon playing with toys!  We got to relive our childhood!

Actually, we delivered 13 huge bags of toys and $325 donated by ULLRs to Toys for Tots, and volunteered at the Toys for Tots warehouse helping sort toys that will be distributed to children in the metro area.  We tried hard to clear away two mountains of toys, but the Marines kept adding new toys to the pile as fast as we sorted toys into the appropriate bins.

We sorted and packed toys into boxes according to gender and age groups.  We bent and stretched, carried arm loads of toys back and forth from the toy pile to the bins, sat on the floor, climbed into huge wood bins, cuddled stuffed animals, played catch, and got lots of ideas for Christmas gifts for the children in our families.

Although we were scheduled from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, by 4:30 pm we were all tired, and eleven of us began a car caravan to Axel's for refreshments and dinner.  Karen C assured us she could lead the way to Axel's, and she did; however, she took us on a longer scenic route over the river and back.  Eventually we all got to the right place!

ULLRs participating were: Nancy S, Pat N, Karen C, Pam G, Janet A, Diane E, Erl E, Gary G, Karen G, Bruce W, Vickie L, Ron F, and Jim S.

We had a great time participating in a worthwhile activity, and we all agreed that ULLRs should do this again next year.
