| ULLR 2010 Spring Awards Banquet Lovely piano music filled the room as eighty-eight ULLRs gathered at the Minnesota Valley Country Club on April 24, 2010 for our 60th annual Awards Banquet. Live English ivy plants with a navy blue ribbon and gold letters around them announced our theme “Still Going at 60”. Blue and gold rocks completed the centerpiece matching the blue napkins and gold programs. Bill Kansas and Joyce Crozier provided the wonderful music filled atmosphere while ULLRs socialized. Dinner was served at 6:30, with many enjoying Almond-Crusted Walleye or Pork Loin With Mushroom Sauce. Chicken Roma was also one of the menu choices. The MC, Bill Kansas, did an excellent job of keeping the program moving. He presented many cherished collectible wine glasses to individuals that he thought deserved them. He brought forth many memories etched in our brains over the years. Brian Johnson presented the ski awards, with Mary Parcheta receiving many national awards. The ULLR Foundation Board was recognized for their outstanding work. Next the Ole Awards were presented. “Spinning Spokes” to John Steifel, “Jumping Jimmy” to Jim Habeck, “Ms. Congeniality” to Sharon Marini, “Our Sparkling Gem” to Karen Clarke, “Gutzy Prez” to Diane Erlandson. ULLR Of The Year Award came as a surprise to Carol Burgess as she was recognized for her many contributions of service. The current ULLR Board was recognized, and the new Board was introduced. The American Flyer Band, as usual, provided inspiring, uplifting beats to the music. A dozen ULLRs plus Dick and I warmed the dance floor until the band stopped playing. We had a ton of fun, and if our emails and notes are any indication, so did everyone else! Lolly Dahlen |
