| The Preservation Jazz Society Band Entertained 25 ULLRs on March 20th
It could not have been a better evening. 25 ULLRs gathered together on March 20th for a fantastic night of food, drink and music - what more could anyone want!
We started off at Brit’s for dinner. While Brit’s has a sign at the door that says, “If you think that you have a reservation, you’re in the wrong restaurant,” we did have a reservation and we were at the right restaurant. General Manager Shane Higgins agreed to have space for us if we would arrive at 5 pm. Would we? Oh, yes, we would and we did! The food and drink were great, and we enjoyed a wide variety of menu offerings - fish and chips, chicken pot pie, shepherd’s pie to name just a few. And, as an extra treat, ULLR Prez Diane Erlandson celebrated her birthday with scrumptious chocolate cake topped by a birthday candle.
After dinner, we moseyed across Nicollet Mall to Orchestra Hall to hear the Preservation Jazz Society Band play with the Minnesota Orchestra. As we waited for the concert to begin, there was time for coffee and dessert or an after dinner drink. At 8 o’clock we entered the concert hall. And what a concert we heard! The Orchestra let the music and musicians take the stage and the Band thrilled us with true New Orleans jazz. Applause and cheering grew after each number. And then the finale - the Preservation Band left the stage to go up the aisles with patrons following - look for the picture of ULLR Jan Cady in the aisle! What a fun, fun evening it was.
