Our club’s namesake, Ullr, was very much in evidence at the Cleary Lake Cross Country and Snowshoe Outing February 20.  His name means glorious or dazzling, and those words could be used to describe the weather and conditions on Saturday - sunny, 28 degrees, no wind, and wonderfully groomed trails.  One might even use the word “dazzling” to describe the skills and abilities of the skiers and snowshoers who came: Jan & Jerry S, Ron F, Vickie L, Jim S, Sally C, Karen H, Mary Ellen G, Linda H, Judy B, Joe & Laurie C!

Joe C (a “monster on snowshoes” according to Jerry S) took 5600 Steps (3 miles) and broke trail part of the time for seven other snowshoers.  Karen H declared that the snow was up to her knees when the group went off the designated path.  That seemed to provide a good workout for everyone.

The outnumbered cross country skiers (4), led by Ron F, skied 4 miles in great conditions.  Unlike the ski-god Ullr, who refused to show the other gods how to ski, Ron was happy to give us some ski tips.

Chianti Grille in Burnsville was the site of our apres’ ski, and it lived up to its reputation for good food and a nice atmosphere.
