Giants Ridge Ski Trip Mar 6-8

“Who could ask for anything more!”

Sunshine and blue skies, warm weather and good snow; Skiing was good!  32 of us on the trip, 3 non-skiers, 2 cross country, the rest downhill skiers.

It was our first time staying in the new condos at Giants Lodge; everyone really liked them.  Each condo had 2 bedrooms with plush beds, 2 full bathrooms, a nice kitchen and living room and some had fireplaces.  The staff at Giants Lodge is very accommodating and really appreciates our business.

Our bus trip up on Friday Eve gave us a first, in having to make a stop to repair a tire.  The bus tire had a slow leak.  We made a couple stops for air, but before we were heading into the barron country north of Clouquet, the driver decided it was safest to have it repaired.  I had never been in a Bus Tire Repair Shop.  The bus pulls right in, everyone (almost) stays on the bus and in 40 minutes, we’re back on our way.  A stop that was considered to be better safe than sorry!

We arrived at Giants Lodge at 10:30 PM.  After skiing hours on Saturday and Sunday, Sunny, Erl, Kay and Gloria, with Don Devine & Pam Anderson filling in, we had a two-day bridge tournament, that even continued on the bus ride home.  There was some good bridge, even some good laughs as Erl reminded us of his Bridge Masters status!  Who won?  Not sure or don’t remember!

Send your Good Wishes to Karen Clarke.  On Sunday, she took a fall and due to a knee injury, had a ride down by the Ski Patrol.  With crutches and ice and a lot of help by her good friends, she, her ski equipment, and luggage all got loaded onto the bus.  Thanks Kae & Ralph Jewell!  They drove Karen and her car home.

To my knowledge, everyone enjoyed the weekend.  (we’re all like family!)
