| Ullrs Have Fun at Applewood Hills Wednesday, June 18th, was a wonderful day for our Ullr Golf Tournament at Applewood Hills. It appeared that everybody involved had a good time. The winning team for the scramble event was captained by John Rooney. A great, 15 foot, downhill putt on the last hole by Ken Ernst enabled the Rooney team to tie for first with a score of 59, three under par. A putt-off against Dian Parnell's team was decided by another great putt; this one by Joyce Rooney. Julie Ernst was the 4th member of the winning team. Jan Cady, Ron Dittmer, and Roger Hennessey were the other members of the 2nd place team. Money was paid out to the top 6 teams. Joyce Bolt's team consisting of Harry Olson, Peggy Blahhoski, and Charlie Peterson finished 3rd at one under, 61. Another putt-off was required to determine 4th & 5th places with Joanne Cramer's team including Carol Schwebach, and Joyce & Bob Lahr coming in 4th. The 5th place team was captained by Judy Bergan and included Skip Jobe, Mary Ellen Goriesky, & Dean Shawbold. The two teams came in at even par 62. Karen Clark's team finished 6th at two over 64. Tom Rein, Jean Buchholz, and Roger Chlebecek played with Karen. Members of the team having the highest score each won a sleeve of balls. Individual prize winners was led by Jim Habeck who collected $20 for the longest men's drive on hole # 11 and another $20 for the guy getting closest to the pin on hole # 13. Joyce Rooney won $20 for the gal getting closest to the pin on hole # 12 and Joyce Bolt won the same on hole # 5. Ron Dittmer won a $25 gift certificate from Joe's Ski Shop for the longest drive on hole # 6 and Joanne Cramer won the same on hole # 8. Charlie Peterson received $20 for being closest to the pin hole # 4 and Joyce Lahr won the $20 for the woman with the longest drive on the back nine, hole # 17. Ken Ernst won a big bottle of wine for that putt on the final hole. Another fun part of the event was the giant skin game. Each player contributed $5 to this team effort. $60 per team was paid out to the teams of Barb Sedges, Karen Clark, John Rooney, and Dian Parnell. A number of door prizes were won by various people. Charlie Peterson contributed several wonderful sporting clothes items from his C. P. Products Company. Pierce Skate & Ski contributed a $52.50 ski tune-up and Yarmo Liquor gave a bottle of wine. Golf Galaxy contributed two golf lessons. A variety of other items were also included. The golf was followed by refreshments and a buffet in the clubhouse along with some great camaraderie. Carol Schwebach and Gus Bjorklund had a lot of fun arranging this event, and we hope that the participants also had fun. |
