On December 16th, thirty-one participants attended the Ullr hosted MSC Meet and Ski. Our club had a large turnout of 27 people, 5 participants were from other clubs. Our event was the third Meet & Ski of the season and had the largest turnout, not bad for so early in the season. Thanks to Dolly Eastman for selling and collecting the payments for the lift tickets.
A week before the event I found out that a Media Race with 100 to 200 participants was scheduled for the same day, eating lunch at the same chalet at the same time, using the charcoal grill on the patio that we planned on using for cooking the burgers and brats furnished by Ullr club. Our lunchtime was moved up so we would be done before the racers ate, and a four-burner gas grill was rented, unfortunately the pressure out of the gas regulator was so low that three of the four burners had to be shut off to obtain barely adequate heat out of one burner. Our great chef Ali Kalish saved the day and made do with our poorly performing grill. The brats which required less cooking time were cooked first, and the burgers were cooked second, aided by the tinfoil Ray Hartmann managed to acquire for placing on top of the burgers to retain sufficient heat to thoroughly cook them. The snow conditions were good, and we had a fun day of skiing. At the end of the day we went to Kings Place in Miesville for dinner.
