Saturday, September 15th saw the Timberwood Village club house transformed into a Parisian Bistro, with “wait staff” (Foundation Board) and chef all dressed in red & white striped polo shirts, topped with red berets. The walls were decorated with watercolors and etchings of scenes from Paris and the French countryside. The Greeting at the door was “Bon Soir, Bienvenue a Notre Fete Française“ (“Good Evening, Welcome to our French Festival”). Ed Nightingale led off by singing a grace in French, and then translated, “Lord, bless us; Bless the food which we have prepared; Provide food for those who are without. Amen.”
Four French appetizers were served during the cocktail hour, followed by a five course dinner of French specialties, accompanied by imported red and white wines from the French vintner, Le Grand Mouton. Nearly forty Ullr’s pronounced themselves highly pleased with the food, drink and fellowship. Best of all, we will be able to buy another of the high tech mono-skis requested by Courage Center.
In addition to recognizing the hard work that evening of nearly our entire Board (Gus, Bjorklund, Lorri Christenson, Betty Gross, King Jobson, Barb Kemmer, Sigrid Ruhland-Melby, Kay Stedman Sommers, Sonny Zenk, and their spouses or significant others – Pat Nelson was unable to be with us that night), a special merci goes to our exceptionally talented chef, Eberhard Werthmann, who gave of his time, talents, and treasure in making a substantial cash donation to the foundation. Dankeschoen, Herr Werthmann! Thank you all for your support!
