Sunday afternoon, April 22, 18 Ullrs enjoyed the World Premier of Easter Parade at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. We met at 4:30 for dinner before the show. Everyone claimed their meal was delicious, chosing from steak, chicken breast with wild rice, meatloaf, walleye or a chicken salad.
The play was an updated version of the movie and although the movie contained familiar actors Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Peter Lawford and Ann Miller, I thought the play was much better than the movie. They used songs that weren’t in the original movie, but that you’d remember from your childhood such as “Let’s Take an Old-fashioned Walk”, “Play a Simple Melody”, “You’d Be Surprised” and embellished on the song and dance pieces. The costumes were beautiful and the actors had wonderful voices. What a great way to spend a Sunday! |
