RCIA sessions begin on Tuesday September 30 at 7:00 PM. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process of study and prayer that adults undergo as they prepare for the three Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist—initiating them fully into the Christian life. Perhaps you may know someone—it may even be YOU—who is not baptized and desires to respond to God through the grace of the Catholic Faith. If so, please call the rectory at 718-625-1161 and leave a voice-mail message for Gary Cushing or send an email to gary.cushing@gmail.com . Gary will contact you to arrange for you to take the next step on this important journey of faith.

Dear Friends:

This Sunday all the Roman Catholic churches in America celebrate Catechetical Sunday. The word “catechesis” means to echo the teachings of the Church. One of the most important works of pastors, parents and catechists is to hand down or echo the message of the Good News. Here at Assumption, we are very proud of our Religious Education Program because we strive to educate our children about the faith but, also, how to make their faith come alive each day of their lives. I sincerely wish to thank the parents who have entrusted their children to our program. I thank Mr. Gary Cushing, our Pastoral Associate, for his hard work in preparing for today and for organizing all that is necessary to make our new school year successful. I thank the wonderful catechists for their time and hard work in creating an environment of love, joy and willingness to learn. Hopefully, in the example of our Religious Education Program, many parishioners will revisit their religious education experiences and appreciate how each of us is called to echo the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Michael A. Carrano
