Text Box: CHRISTMAS GALA

It is not too early to mark your calendars for the 4th Annual Assumption Christmas Gala -
“Let There Be Peace on Earth” - which will take place on Saturday, December 6th in the Church Hall. More details will follow.

CRANBERRY STREET FAIR

Many, many thanks to all who helped make the Assumption table at the Cranberry Street Fair a great success! The Fair was wonderful. All the visitors were impressed by our cupcakes - thanks to all who made them. A very special thanks to Marianne Bellucci who chaired the event and to all who assisted her. Marianne’s face painting was a grand “hit” with the young people. Many thanks Marianne.
Text Box: POT LUCK SUPPER

Join in the fun on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 5:30 P.M. for Assumption’s annual Pot Luck Supper. This is not a fundraiser but a great chance for parishioners to get to know each other better and to share delicious family favorites with friends old and new. If you can bring an appetizer, entrée, side dish, salad, or dessert, please contact Reena Raggi Denton at 718-643-9816 OR reena_raggi@ca2.uscourts.gov before Thursday, October 29. If you cannot bring something this year, come anyway! There is always plenty, and the supper is definitely a “more the merrier” celebration of the Assumption community.

HOLIDAY

The parish office will be closed this Monday, October 13th for the Columbus Day Holiday! Enjoy!

Dear Friends:

In late August I was informed of the death of Rosalie McCauley. This was truly a great loss to our parish. Many of our parishioners may not remember Rosalie because everything she did was done in a most quiet and peaceful way. For over thirty years Rosalie was a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital. By all accounts she was the best. She gave her “all” to her patients and she cared for them with deep compassion and concern. Here at Assumption Rosalie was a member of our Choir. She served for many years on the Pastoral Council, was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, worked on the Christmas Fair and was on almost every committee which benefited our parish. She was always the first to volunteer for whatever was needed in the parish. Rosalie’s life is truly a testament to what it means to serve the needs of others with “gladness and joy.” Her example of giving is what the Gospel continues to ask of us. Her death is a loss to all her friends and acquaintances here at Assumption. I ask you to please remember her in your prayers. May her example of service be a model for us as the Lord takes her to heaven.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Michael A. Carrano
