Text Box: CHRISTMAS GALA

Assumption parish will celebrate our Annual Christmas Gala/Silent Auction on Saturday, December 6th. This is a major fundraiser for our parish. Due to the fact that we are in the midst of a Capital Centenary Campaign, the tickets for the Gala are $25 per person. Donations for the Silent Auction may be dropped off at the rectory (64 Middagh Street) Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Donations may also be dropped off at the rectory by first calling 718-625-1161 to ensure someone will be there to receive the items.

Dear Friends:
On November 5 - 8th I had the honor of being at a historic event in the Catholic Church in America. A National Symposium was held in Baltimore to study, listen and vision for the future of the Religious Education of high school and college students. Only one hundred people were invited from all over America and I was truly honored to be one of the invitees. Among the persons present were renowned lecturers in Religious Education/Theology, bishops, Professors from major Catholic colleges, representative of publishing companies, parents, Diocesan Directors of Faith Formation, and Diocesan Directors of Youth Ministry/Adolescent Catechesis and pastors. We were in classes from nine in the morning until nine at night. But, the varied sessions were enlightening and informative. Probably the best moment of the week was listening to the young people as they spoke to us about their world and their experiences in Religious Education. The future looks promising and I am pleased to be a part of visioning for the good of our young people. Please pray for the success of this endeavor.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Michael A. Carrano
