Dear Friends:
We live in a world in which hunger haunts billions of people. We have access to worldwide news - to media, information, and resources more numerous and farther reaching than those available to any other people who have walked on earth. We live in a world in which w can be paralyzed by the enormity of the suffering we see. So many people need help. Where can we begin? Today’s feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), is at the core of who we are as a people of faith. The Lord is risen! We are called out to become His hands, His eyes, His feet. The Scriptures tell us God operates directly in our world. In the sacrament, God is present here and now. If we eat His body and drink His blood, today God will operate in the world through us. We can see patterns in this divine touch. Freedom from slavery, freedom from hunger, freedom in oneness, freedom in a new sort of food. We are brought to the table of Christ to find life. We are brought to the table to become what he is. He started simply. He talked to crowds, but He touched the sick and lonely one person at a time. He still works through real flesh and blood.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Michael A. Carrano
