Dear Parishioners and friends,

Congratulations for being a big part of the growth of Assumption Parish.  Our parish is truly a very active, alive and prayerful community.  Our growth is manifested not only our spiritual an social life but also in the physical life of Assumption.

In 2009 our church and rectory buildings are 100 years old.  During the course of these years, necessary work has been done, but these buildings continue to show their age.  To ensure that our buildings continue to be available to support the life of our community we must, at this time, address some major issues with the church and rectory buildings.

I have appointed a Centenary Committee to review these issues.  With my approval, the Committee determined that we should have a Capital Centenary Campaign to achieve the following necessary repairs to our historic buildings:

bulletThe entire roof of the Church must be replaced.
bulletThe lower roof on the left side of the Church must be replaced.
bulletGutters on the left side of the Church must be replaced.
bulletA new kitchen, in the rectory, is necessary as there are major electrical problems, and this room is used as a classroom.
bulletThe concrete steps going to the Church Hall, on the left side, have caved in and, as is, can cause major water damage to the Hall.  These steps must be replaced.

The Finance Committee and our Centenary Committee have reviewed the details of this project and the bides received from contractors who have assessed the work.  In order to accomplish our goal we have set a CAMPAIGN GOAL OF $250,000.  This amount will also include our part of the Bishop's Annual Catholic Appeal for this year.  The campaign will be conducted during the period of October 2008--May 2009.

I am writing to ask you to be, please be, as generous as possible so that we can ensure the continued growth of our parish programs.  Our buildings serve the needs of all our programs.  Please HELP make them safe, secure, and viable.

Please, fill out the attached pledge card and return it in the envelope provided.  You are welcome to make your contribution in one lump sum or in payments, as indicated on the pledge card.

In the name of Mary, our mother and Patroness, I thank you and wish you all the best.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Michael A Carrano
