Text Box: RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (R-C-I-A)

The Rite of Chrisitan Inititation of Adults (RCIA) is a process of learning about the Catholic Christian tradition and growing in prayer. During this process, adults commit themselves to prepare intensely for the three sacraments that initiate them fully into the life of Jesus Christ and the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. The RCIA journey reaches its fulfillment during the Sacred Triduum in Holy Week (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil.
Perhaps you may know someone—it may even be YOU—who is not baptized, or is baptized in another Christian tradition, and desires to respond to God through the grace of the Catholic Faith. If so, please call our Pastoral Associate—Gary Cushing at the rectory at 718-625-1161 or email gary.cushing@gmail.com to make your interest known. We will contact you and arrange for you to take the next step on this important journey.

Dear Friends:
With Labor Day upon us we return to many fall activities. Here, at Assumption we return to our busy schedule of meetings and other activities. As I write this part of our bulletin, I ask you to please pray for the success of two aspects of our parish life. The first is the Religious Education Program. Sister Maria has done a great job initiating and maintaining this program. This fall we have almost fifty young people in our program. I have met with our new Pastoral Associate, Mr. Gary Cushing, and he is eagerly preparing for the start of this year’s Program. I am inviting all our parishioners to the 10:00 A.M. Mass on Sunday, September 21st. It is Catechetical Sunday and we will commission our teachers and have a special blessing for our parents. The second aspect of our parish, that I ask you to pray for, is our Pastoral Council. They will have their first meeting on Tuesday, September 2nd. I know that each of them is eager to assist in making Assumption a truly spirit filled parish. Please remember that I rely on the wisdom and counsel of our Council in making all decisions. Their voice is important to me! Please pray for our parish. Thank you!

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Michael A. Carrano
